Letter from the Chapter

Dear Potential New Member,

We are the Delta Iota Chapter of Sigma Kappa at California State University Chico. I am lucky that I have joined such an amazing chapter filled with the most genuine and diverse sisters. The ladies of Sigma Kappa truly stand out for their similar values which they uphold and the friendships we all have with each other. From the moment I walked into Sigma Kappa on the first day of recruitment I knew I was home. During my time in Sigma Kappa I have created friendships that will last a lifetime and I have been able to grow as a person. I took on the position of Vice President of Membership a little nervous but eager for the challenge and to strengthen my leadership and communication skills. With Recruitment coming up in January 2020 I’m full speed ahead preparing workshops and activities that will further help grow our sisters into becoming the best recruiters they can be. We are doing tabling events to promote recruitment on campus as well as preparing numerous workshops during the fall semester to prepare for the beginning of Polish week on January 6th. After two weeks of practicing, the day we have been waiting for is finally here! On January 16th Formal Recruitment finally begins, the first two days our Go Greek where we are first seeing the PNMs and getting to know who they are. The third day is Philansis where we are able to share our five Philanthropies with the PNMs and get to know them on a deeper level. The final day of recruitment is Preference night, this day is where we go all out with decorations and frills. This final day is very important because all the girls we connected with will be coming back and we want to make a good impression on them. I’m so excited for Recruitment to get here so I can meet all of you and so you can find your home away from home like me.
